The growth of entrepreneurial human capital: origins and development of skill variety

Abstract Given that recent research on entrepreneurial behavior and success has established skill variety as a central human capital factor, researchers, educators, policymakers have turned their interest to deeper understanding of the formation variety. Based theory competence growth approach in developmental psychology (highlighting long-term, age-appropriate, cumulative skill-growth processes), we hypothesize broad, early orientation adolescence is precursor such adulthood. This was confirmed an analysis prospective longitudinal data via structural equation modeling serial mediation tests. We also find constellation personality traits, but not parents, predicts orientation, variety, intentions. By shedding new light long-term capital, results suggest establishing benefiting from only important mechanism careers gives those with head start vocational development. Implications for future practice are discussed.
